Μήνυμα από τον Hanshi mr. Hiroyuki-Tesshin Hamada (Β΄ Αντιπροέδρου της DNBK) Kagami Biraki Message

Dear Kagami Biraki Participants of DNBK International Division:

It is our time to share the traditional beginning of dojo in the New Year.

Iaido/Kendo/Kobudo master Seishin once stated in early 1950’s that a ceremony of Kagami Biraki was the way to unify extraordinary strength and courage readying for preparation of a formidable battle. Having a final sake cup was a ritual of Samurai and it meant a celebration of life beyond.
Today is the day to celebrate another chapter of dojo beginning where we will connect each other worldwide in the fine tuning of greater energy.
We shall witness flash of sword-cutting, fire of dynamics in fist and feet, gentle wind of Taisabaki flowing, calm water of constant readiness, earth-moving powerful breathing, while elements of nature and men try to unify heart and soul with strong spirit. Kagami Biraki is not just a ceremonial commencement of dojo practice. Kagami is the mirror in one’s soul. Opening the mirror is to set determined readiness for now and the future. The Budo path is long and far and very deep. Only those who shall commit his ultimate readiness with courage can prevail over insurmountable challenges ahead. It is the time to reaffirm our unyielding volition toward greater excellence.

In this year’s Kagami Biraki, at the end of practice, let us give three energetic Banzai cheers to each other for sharing the spirit of goodwill while I and Japanese members will send our Ki from the Butokuden in Japan.

How great a feeling it is when we know in our heart that we have true warrior comrades throughout the world! That is a wonderful blessing indeed. We wish to embrace all of you with our open heart and soul.

We hope and pray all of you will have strong health and happiness in the New Year.

Tesshin Hamada
